The PRIA'S 24th Anniversary & Induction of Officers &
Board of Directors
The
Association celebrated its 24th Anniversary last June
23, 2003 at Wack Wack Golf & Country Club. At the same
time, the Honourable Secretary of the Department of Energy,
Mr. Vincent Perez, Jr inducted the new Officers & Board
of Directors.
Also
attending the affair was Mr. Meneleo Carlos, Chairman
of the Federation of the Philippines Industries (FPI),
Mr. Leroy Tan, President of the Tire Importers & Traders
Association of the Philippines (TITAP), Mr. Audie Adiviso,
President of the Philippine Chamber of Industruial Estates
(PCIE), Mr. Bernardo de Pedro, Secretary General of the
Tire Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (TMAP),
Assistant. Director Clarito Baron of the Bureau of Plant
Industry, Mr. Ernie Villafuerte of the NAFC of the Department
of Agriculture, directors & staff of different Industries
Associations and government agencies such as the Philippine
Retreaders Association, Philippine Institute of Industrial
Engineers, Board of Investments, Yokohama Tire Phils.
Inc. & the active & loyal members of PRIA.
Secretary
Vincent Perez, Jr., as Guest Speaker, presented the Programs
of the Department of Energy insofar as the local Rubber
Industry is concerned. He talked on the initiatives to
harness used tires and other rubber waste products as
fuel for energy plants. He also talked about the role
of rubber products and their impact on overall fuel efficiency.
He also suggested that the PRIA take a lead role in the
Department's campaign for energy efficiency and consumer
welfare.
In coordination with Mrs. Basilisa Ho, Mr. Ernie Villafuerte
of the NAFC showed a video presentation on the work he
has been doing on the Rubber Planting Development Program.
Of particular interest to the members was a section on
the processing of raw rubber. He invited PRIA members
to invest in the PRIA Rubber Demo Farm, which was originally
scheduled to be launched in Zamboanga last June 28 but
postponed for July. (NOTE: The venue of the Launch has
been tentatively transferred to Manila with the possible
participation of the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture).
Ms. Lisa Cabahug entertained the guests with her rendition
of Broadway songs & Filipino pop songs with the audience
delight. Mr. Harald Seifert, an old familiar face in the
Association before he left for abroad, has come back as
Representative of Rudolf Lietz, Inc. which was inducted
as the newest member of the PRIA.
We
would also like to thank Latex Products Co., Inc. for
the additional balloons, Star Rubber, subsidiary company
of the Pan Pacific Plastic Products for the rubber slippers,
Dunlop Slazenger Phils for the tennis balls and Fast Track
Service Center for the free service certificates which
were to given to the members & lucky raffle winners. The
affair was indeed a memorable, fruitful & tiring evening
for the organizers.
